Year-End Staff Retreat: Envisioning the Future

For three days, INFRA staff met for their annual retreat in Minneapolis. Our time together was spent reviewing work done in 2009, educating new staff, and planning for 2010. We also enjoyed team-building activities at the local bowling alley, where we discovered why Corinne is CEO. She bowled a turkey!

Membership Grows: Year in Review

Of course, we appreciate the exposure we have gotten from our booth at both Expo East and Expo West.  Attendance at all of these shows has proven beneficial, since we continue to meet with retailers who are hearing about INFRA for the first time.

In addition to trade show attendance, we also introduced some new marketing strategies. We developed the INFRA “Toolbox,” which provides answers to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding INFRA. The “Toolbox” can easily be used by our current members, as well as other industry partners when they have the opportunity to speak to independent retailers.

Large Store Members of INFRA Visit Down to Earth

On April 7th and 8th a number of INFRA’s large store members gathered at Down To Earth in Honolulu, HI for two days of best practice sharing. The group discussed the topic of succession planning for their organizations both emergency succession and long term.  We also discussed sustainability practices, the value of employees understanding the impact they have on the bottom line of the company and as always a few other items that were not on the agenda.

Member Interview: Natural Choices for Healthful Living

Carolyn Behman, one of INFRA’s newest members, opened her store Natural Choices for Healthful Living in Columbus, Indiana thirteen years ago. During her free time, for years before she opened her store, Carolyn researched and read about the kind of store she imagined she would one day own. Now her 5,300 square foot space is a hub for the community and one of a kind in its area.  ... more >>
